And the journey continues. The new colour scheme is Light Admirality Grey. John is grateful to Nick Ness for all his work in the recent weather conditions we have had, to reach this stage.

Painting underway of the gunnels, combing and deck prior to fitting out the Hatch/hold area.
The other photograph shows the framework for the hatch. This has been specially designed. It was quite complex as the boat dimensions varied along its length and breadth. However, it is as good as it can be and it is a fine bit of work by Iain McGlone and Peter Powell, all in aluminium so therefore quite light and can be lifted off manually if necessary.
For the time being we are going to use the timber of the hen house covering the boat at present. We will turn it into panels for each of the three bays port and starboard. You will then be able to roll back the canvas by one bay and lift a section of hatch board out. This will be recycling to our advantage as boards similar to the original would be costly and time consuming as they are just under 3” thick.

Prior to the windless being lifted on to the boat. Note the finished combing and Hatch cover beautifully level and square.
